Alfredo López Austin, geboren in Ciudad Juárez (Bundesstaat Chihuahua), ist erimitierter Philosophieprofessor und Anthropologe des Institutes Anthropologische Forschung der Universidad Autonóma de México ( UNAM ) Gastprofessor an der „Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales“ und „Institut des Hautes Etudes de l’Amérique latine“ in Paris sowie in Japan.

Alfredo López Austin, einer der brillantesten Forscher und Experte auf dem Gebiet der Mesoamerikanischen Kulturen, wie zum Beispiel Körperideologie und Weltanschauung der prähispanischen Bevölkerung und mesoamerikanische Religionen, ist mit zahlreichen Auszeichnungen sowohl in Mexiko wie im Ausland geehrt worden.
